Blake Selland
Head Men's Basketball Coach
Blake Selland assumed the role of head men’s basketball coach at Flagler College in April 2022. Prior to his promotion, he served as an assistant coach at Flagler from 2017–22 and gained earlier collegiate coaching experience at Shorter University from 2015–17. His playing career was at Shorter University, where he competed as a guard and helped the Hawks make the NAIA Division I “Fab Four” in 2012 and claim the NCCAA national championship in 2013. After earning his bachelor’s degree in business administration from Shorter in 2015 and following that with a master’s in sport management in 2016, he transitioned into coaching.
At Flagler, Selland inherited a program in the competitive Peach Belt Conference (PBC) and has emphasized culture, performance and player development. In his first season (2022-23) the team posted a 13-17 overall mark and a 7-11 conference record. A year later (2023-24) he guided the Saints to a 20-11 overall record and an 11-7 conference record, reaching the PBC tournament final. He emphasises teamwork and efficiency, and under his leadership the team has excelled in key statistical categories like scoring offense, assist-to-turnover ratio, and shooting percentages.
A native of Charlotte, North Carolina, Selland and his wife Amber (a former collegiate soccer player) reside in St. Augustine, Florida. Off the court, he remains committed to building a program rooted in accountability, connection and sustained excellence.
