Blake Kangas
Assistant Coach/Recruiting Coordinator
Blake Kangas joined the University of South Florida baseball program in June 2024 as an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator, becoming a key member of head coach Mitch Hannahs’ inaugural staff. He arrived in Tampa following two highly productive seasons at Oklahoma State University, where he served as Director of Player Development. During his tenure with the Cowboys, the program compiled an 83–39 overall record, captured the 2024 Big 12 Tournament championship, won the 2023 Big 12 regular season title, and hosted consecutive NCAA Regionals. At Oklahoma State, Kangas played an integral role in player development, working with 19 All-Conference performers and 14 MLB Draft selections, including multiple nationally recognized All-Americans.
Prior to Oklahoma State, Kangas spent five seasons at Keiser University in West Palm Beach, Florida, where he served as recruiting coordinator, defensive coordinator, and offensive coach. His impact was significant, as Keiser reached three regional tournaments and one World Series appearance while setting multiple program offensive and defensive records. Earlier in his career, Kangas spent four seasons at Kansas State University, contributing to the Wildcats’ historic 2013 season that included a Big 12 Championship, an NCAA Regional host site, and the program’s first-ever Super Regional appearance. Known for his offensive acumen, Kangas has coached dozens of all-conference players and All-Americans across multiple levels. Over the course of his career, he has helped develop 59 MLB Draft picks, establishing a national reputation as an elite recruiter and player development coach.
