BJ Holloway

Assistant Coach

BJ Holloway joined the University of Alabama in Huntsville baseball program in 2014 and currently serves as the lead assistant coach under head coach Hunter Royer. Working primarily with hitters and position players, Holloway has played an instrumental role in the Chargers’ offensive and defensive development. During his initial seasons with UAH in 2014 and 2015, the program achieved national rankings and compiled a combined 77-27-1 overall record. His coaching emphasis centers on offensive production, plate discipline, and defensive consistency, contributing to the sustained competitiveness of the program within the Gulf South Conference. Prior to returning to UAH, Holloway spent a season at Whitman College in Walla Walla, Washington, where he significantly improved the team’s offensive and defensive metrics. Under his guidance, Whitman’s team batting average rose to .279, walks and on-base percentage saw notable increases, and run production more than doubled from the previous season. Defensively, the team reduced errors and improved its fielding percentage to .968. As a player, Holloway was a three-year starter at the University of Montevallo from 2006–08 after transferring from Western Kentucky. He helped lead Montevallo to a South Central Regional Championship and a trip to the NCAA Division II World Series in 2006, followed by a school-record 47-win season in 2007. Holloway earned his bachelor’s degree in kinesiology from Montevallo in 2009 and later completed a master’s degree in teaching at West Alabama in 2013. He resides in Huntsville with his wife, Lisa, and their two children, Harper and Tucker.
