Bill O'Brien is the Gregory P. Barber '69 and Family Head Coach of Boston College football in Chestnut Hill, Massachusetts, and entered his third season with the program after being hired on February 9, 2024, as the 37th head coach in school history.
In his first two seasons at Boston College, O'Brien oversaw notable progress on both sides of the ball. The Eagles went 7-6 in his debut season and earned a berth in the Pinstripe Bowl. That team opened with a top-10 road win at Florida State, reached the national top 25 for the first time in six years after a 2-0 start, posted the program's first six-win season at Alumni Stadium since 2009, and sold out two home games for the first time since 2006. Boston College also finished among the national leaders in several statistical categories, including fewest penalties per game, turnover margin, interceptions, passing efficiency, and rushing defense.
