Bill Coen is the head coach of the Northeastern University men's basketball program in Boston, Massachusetts, and is the winningest coach in both Northeastern and Coastal Athletic Association history. Since taking over the Huskies in 2006, he has led the program to four regular-season conference championships and NCAA tournament appearances in 2015 and 2019. He has compiled 306 wins at Northeastern and holds CAA records for 200 combined regular-season and postseason victories and 20 conference tournament wins.
Under Coen, Northeastern has been a consistent contender in the CAA. The Huskies reached the conference quarterfinals in all but three of his first 20 seasons and became the fifth program in league history to advance to three straight championship games when they did so in 2018, 2019, and 2020. His teams have produced 35 All-CAA first-team selections and 10 All-Rookie honorees, and 29 of his players have gone on to play professionally. His work has been recognized with the 2018 CAA Coach of the Year award, USBWA District I Coach of the Year honors in 2010 and 2013, NABC District 10 Coach of the Year honors in 2013 and 2018, and selection as a finalist for the 2013 Hugh Durham National Coach of the Year award.
