Bethany Hovland serves as Dive Coach for University of Northern Iowa's Women's Swimming and Diving program in Cedar Falls, Iowa. Hovland took over as the head diving coach for the UNI Panthers in August 2018. Hovland earned the MVC Diving Coach of the Year recognition in 2022 after coaching diver Taylor Hogan to a three-meter conference title, a third-place finish on one-meter and MVC Diver of the Year honors.
She was again named the MVC Co-Diving Coach of the Year in 2025 after a strong performance by the Panthers at the conference championships. In 2026, Hovland earned her third MVC Diving Coach of the Year awrard after an impressive performance by UNI with Avery Hogan winning the three-meter conference title and finishing second in the one-meter. Four divers qualified for the one-meter A-final under Hovland's leadership, marking the first time in program history UNI placed four athletes into the top final for either a swimming or diving event. Hovland found success during the 2021-2022 season where three of her divers placed in the A final on 1 meter at the MVC Conference Championships and two divers earned honorable mention conference recognition.
