Ben Waldrum is the head coach of the University of Pittsburgh women's soccer program in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, a position he assumed on May 22, 2025, ahead of his eighth season on the Pitt staff. He was elevated to the role when Pitt shifted to a professional staffing model and Randy Waldrum moved from head coach to technical director. Before that promotion, Waldrum spent seven seasons as an assistant and associate head coach, including service as associate head coach beginning August 5, 2019.
Waldrum has been part of a period of sustained success for Pitt. In 2024, the Panthers recorded their fifth straight winning season, finishing 9-6-3 despite significant injuries. Pitt again ranked among the national leaders in shots and shots on goal, and Sarah Schupansky closed her career by leading the NCAA with 15 assists. The 2023 season produced a series of program bests, including records for overall wins, ACC wins, home wins, points, goals, and assists. Pitt defeated Duke and North Carolina in the regular season for the first time in program history, reached the ACC Championship semifinals, and advanced to the NCAA Championship Elite Eight for the first time. That year's staff received NCAA Atlantic Staff of the Year honors.
