Ben Mitchell
Diving Coach & Building Manager
Ben Mitchell is in his fourth season as Seton Hall University’s men’s and women’s diving coach after being appointed during the 2021–22 season. A former standout Pirate diver, Mitchell has quickly translated his competitive success into coaching excellence. Under his leadership, Seton Hall divers have captured multiple BIG EAST titles and earned conference honors, including BIG EAST Diver of the Year and Most Outstanding Diver accolades. In 2025, Mitchell was named BIG EAST Men’s Diving Coach of the Year after guiding Nicholas Graham to runner-up finishes in both the 1-meter and 3-meter events at the conference championships, with Graham earning Most Outstanding Diver recognition. Mitchell also coached multiple NCAA Zone qualifiers and helped continue the program’s tradition of excellence on both boards.
During the 2023–24 season, his divers recorded first-place finishes in all dual meets, highlighted by Silvia Alessio’s BIG EAST Championship victory and conference-record score in the 3-meter event. Mitchell himself enjoyed a decorated collegiate career from 2011 to 2015, winning four BIG EAST titles and setting school records in the 1-meter and 3-meter events. He was a three-time Seton Hall Male Athlete of the Year and a two-time USA Diving Masters National Champion. In addition to his collegiate role, Mitchell has coached at the high school and club levels, leading teams to district championships and record-breaking performances, further demonstrating his commitment to developing divers at every stage.
