Beau Bunn
Assistant Coach, Diving
Beau Bunn joined the University of Alabama swimming and diving program in April 2022 as the Crimson Tide’s diving coach, bringing more than a decade of collegiate coaching experience to Tuscaloosa. A six-time Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) Diving Coach of the Year, Bunn quickly made an impact with Alabama’s diving corps. Under his leadership, Alabama divers have returned to national prominence, including sending Nigel Chambers to the 2025 NCAA Championships, where he became the Tide’s first All-American diver since 2010. Bunn has also guided multiple student-athletes to NCAA Zone qualifications and event victories, reinforcing the program’s competitive depth and technical development.
Prior to Alabama, Bunn spent 10 seasons as head diving coach at UNC Wilmington, his alma mater. During his tenure, the Seahawks captured multiple CAA team titles and produced numerous individual conference champions and Diver of the Year honorees. He also served as an assistant coach at Duke during the 2011–12 season, contributing to the development of Olympic divers Abby Johnston and Nick McCrory, both of whom competed at the 2012 London Games. As a student-athlete at UNC Wilmington, Bunn was a two-time CAA Diver of the Year and earned CAA Rookie of the Year honors. He earned his bachelor’s degree in physical education in 1999 and later completed a master’s degree in higher educational leadership in 2018. Bunn and his spouse, April, have two sons, Jason and Nathan.
