Avery Reed
Volunteer Assistant Coach
Avery Reed serves as a Volunteer Assistant Coach for the University of South Alabama men’s golf program while also operating as Owner and Master Club Fitter at Fairhope Golf Works. With more than 20 years of experience in custom club fitting and equipment building, Reed has worked extensively with elite professional golfers across the PGA Tour, European Tour, Korn Ferry Tour, Champions Tour, and LPGA Tour. Throughout his career, he has fit and built equipment for numerous top-50 world-ranked players, including multiple major championship and tour event winners. His expertise brings a professional tour-level fitting experience to South Alabama’s student-athletes.
Reed began his career as Master Fitter at “The Kingdom” at TaylorMade’s headquarters in Carlsbad, California, before becoming a TaylorMade Tour Representative supporting staff players across multiple professional tours. He later served as Manager and Master Fitter for the PGA Tour at TPC Sawgrass, overseeing custom fitting services for tour professionals based in the area. Most recently, Reed spent a decade as Tour Manager for Mitsubishi Chemical’s shaft division, contributing to product development and helping create some of the most widely used shafts in professional golf, including the Tensei, MMT, and Kaili lines. His combination of technical knowledge and tour experience enhances the development environment within South Alabama’s golf program.
