Ava Fitzmaurice is an assistant softball coach at Fairfield University in Fairfield, Connecticut, joining the program in August 2024. She arrived at Fairfield after serving as an assistant coach at Southern Connecticut State University during the 2023-24 season, when the Owls won 18 games and reached the Northeast-10 Conference semifinals. She also worked with the Capital District Fusion U-16 team beginning in 2019.
Before moving into coaching, Fitzmaurice built a strong collegiate playing career at the University of New Haven and Siena College. At New Haven, she spent three seasons and finished with 39 pitching wins, placing her among the program's all-time leaders. Her 2019 season included a 21-5 record and a 1.06 ERA, performance that earned NFCA Third-Team All-America and All-Region recognition. She was also a two-time All-Northeast-10 selection, earned Northeast-10 Southwest Division Player of the Year honors, and was recognized repeatedly on the conference academic honor roll.
