Austin Savage is the Director of Cross Country and an assistant track and field coach at Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, Virginia, where he works with the Rams' distance athletes and enters his fourth season in 2025-26.
In his first three years leading VCU cross country, Savage directed steady progress for both the men's and women's programs. In the 2024 cross country season, each team posted two top-three finishes. The men were runner-up at both the Phoenix XC Invitational hosted by Elon and the CNU XC Invitational hosted by Christopher Newport, while the women placed second at CNU and third at Phoenix. VCU also sent seven runners to the NCAA Southeast Regional meet in Rock Hill, South Carolina, with four women and three men qualifying.
