Austin Albers
Head Volleyball Coach
Austin Albers began his tenure as Head Volleyball Coach at Colorado Mesa University in February 2025, joining the Mavericks in Grand Junction, Colorado. He is the fifth head coach in the program’s history and inherits a team that has made four consecutive NCAA Tournament appearances and amassed over 90 wins during that run. In his statement, Albers expressed his honor in taking the role and his excitement to help carry forward the program’s legacy of success on and off the court. Prior to arriving at Colorado Mesa, Albers spent six seasons at CSU Pueblo where he posted a 93-61 (.604) overall record and led the team to NCAA National Tournament appearances in 2021 and 2022.
Before that, he served as head coach at Laramie County Community College, achieving a record of 145-57 and leaving as the program’s all-time win percentage leader (.718). Albers earned his bachelor’s degree with honors in exercise science management and a minor in athletic coaching from Black Hills State University in 2012. He comes from a strong collegiate-athletics background—his father was a long-time athletic director and head volleyball coach—and Albers and his family moved to Grand Junction to lead the Maverick program.
