Asiya Mahmud is the head coach of rowing at the University of Delaware in Newark, Delaware, and enters her third season leading the Blue Hens in 2025-26 as the program begins its first year in the Mid-American Conference.
Mahmud was hired on August 2, 2023, after eight seasons at Drexel, her alma mater and a former conference rival of Delaware. She joined the Dragons in 2015 and was promoted twice, eventually becoming head coach after serving as associate head coach beginning in September 2020. Before arriving at Drexel, she was a varsity assistant at Bucknell in 2014, where she worked in recruiting and coached the women's second varsity eight to runner-up finishes at both the Dad Vail Regatta and the Patriot League Championship. She began her coaching career at Oakcrest High School, first as a varsity assistant and then as head coach, earning Atlantic County Coach of the Year and Press of Atlantic City Coach of the Year honors in her first season in charge.
