Ashley Cozart
Head Coach
Ashley Cozart was hired as head softball coach at the University of North Alabama in July 2013 and enters her 13th season leading the Lions in 2026. The sixth head coach in program history, Cozart has built UNA into a consistent winner across both Division II and Division I eras. She owns a 607-241-1 overall career record, including a 416-195-1 mark at North Alabama, and has never posted a losing season during her tenure. After guiding the Lions to five consecutive NCAA Division II Tournament appearances to open her career at UNA, she led the program to its first NCAA Division II National Championship in 2016, finishing 60-7 and earning Gulf South Conference Coach of the Year honors. In 2024, she signed a contract extension through 2028.
Cozart successfully transitioned the program into Division I competition, maintaining winning seasons throughout the four-year reclassification period and beyond. The Lions have recorded four consecutive 30-win seasons entering 2026, including a 35-19 mark in 2024 and a 30-21 finish in 2025, when Cozart earned her 400th UNA victory and 600th career win. Her teams have made multiple ASUN Championship appearances, including a runner-up finish in 2023. Prior to UNA, Cozart compiled a 191-46 record at Lindsey Wilson College with four straight conference titles and NAIA national tournament appearances. A former standout at Trevecca Nazarene University and Hall of Fame inductee, Cozart and her husband, Shaun, have two sons, Cooper and Tucker.
