Antone' Sewell
Assistant Head Coach/Defensive Coordinator/Safeties
Antone’ Sewell is an experienced American college football coach serving as the Assistant Head Coach and Defensive Coordinator at Morgan State University in Baltimore, Maryland, where he works under head coach Damon Wilson. He joined the Bears’ staff after a highly successful tenure as defensive coordinator at Bowie State University, where his defenses were among the nation’s best and helped the Bulldogs secure multiple Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) championships, including three in a row culminating in a historic playoff run in 2021 in which the team allowed under 14 points per game. Sewell’s coaching expertise emphasizes disciplined, aggressive defense and player development, which have made him one of the top defensive minds in HBCU football.
Sewell’s coaching journey began after he completed his degree at Bowie State University, where he was a standout four-year letterman and was named Defensive MVP as a player. After serving as a graduate assistant at Fort Valley State University working with defensive backs, he built his career across several programs including Prairie View A&M in the Southwestern Athletic Conference before his long stint at Bowie State, where he coached multiple all-conference and national defensive standouts. A native of New Carrollton, Maryland, Sewell also holds a master’s degree in Counseling from Prairie View A&M and has participated in several prestigious NCAA coaching development programs. Since joining Morgan State’s staff, he has helped strengthen the Bears’ defense and expand the program’s competitive stature in the MEAC.
