Anthony Evans is the Director of Player Development for the University of Massachusetts Amherst men's basketball program in Amherst, Massachusetts, and joined Frank Martin's staff in July 2023. Before arriving at UMass, he worked as an advanced regional college and high school scout for the Cleveland Cavaliers after 11 seasons as a Division I head coach.
Evans led FIU for five seasons and previously spent six years as head coach at Norfolk State. At FIU, his teams finished in the top 10 percent nationally in the NCAA Academic Progress Report from 2015-17 and he coached multiple Conference USA all-league and all-defensive selections. At Norfolk State, he guided the program to its first MEAC regular-season title in 2013, earned conference coach of the year honors, and led the school to its first Division I NCAA Tournament appearance, highlighted by an upset of Missouri. A Brooklyn native, Evans played point guard at St. Thomas Aquinas College and earned his bachelor's degree there in 1994.
