Anthony Bozzella
Head Coach
Anthony Bozzella returned to his alma mater as head women’s basketball coach prior to the 2013–14 season and has since engineered one of the most successful eras in program history. Over 12 seasons at the helm, he has compiled a 230–152 record at Seton Hall and a 536–470 overall mark across 33 years as a collegiate head coach. He holds the best winning percentage in modern program history and has led the Pirates to nine postseason appearances, including two NCAA Tournament bids. In 2025, Bozzella was named to the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) Board of Directors.
Bozzella guided Seton Hall to its first NCAA Tournament appearance since 1995 with a program-record 28-win season in 2014–15, earning BIG EAST Coach of the Year and Maggie Dixon Division I Coach of the Year honors. The Pirates captured a share of their first BIG EAST regular-season championship and advanced to the conference tournament title game as the No. 1 seed. He followed that with another NCAA Tournament berth in 2015–16.
His teams have consistently competed near the top of the BIG EAST standings, including a run to the 2022 WNIT National Championship game after winning 16 of their final 19 contests. In 2024–25, Seton Hall won 23 games, finished 13–5 in conference play, earned the No. 3 seed in the BIG EAST Tournament, and advanced in both the conference tournament and WBIT.
Prior to returning to Seton Hall, Bozzella revitalized programs at Iona, LIU Brooklyn, and Southampton College. At Iona, he led the Gaels to multiple MAAC title games and WNIT appearances while posting one of the top conference records over his final seven seasons. At LIU Brooklyn, he led a dramatic turnaround, guiding the team to a Northeast Conference championship and NCAA Tournament berth in his first season. Known for rebuilding programs and emphasizing academic excellence, Bozzella has mentored numerous all-conference players and the first WNBA Draft pick in Seton Hall history.
A 1989 Seton Hall graduate, Bozzella and his wife, Maria, reside in West Orange, New Jersey, and have two children.
