Anna Shelnutt
Assistant Coach
Anna Shelnutt begins her first season as an assistant coach with the UAB softball program, bringing championship-level playing experience and proven offensive development to the Blazers’ staff. A 2018 NCAA National Champion at Florida State, Shelnutt made two Women’s College World Series appearances during her collegiate career from 2017-21. She joins UAB after two seasons as an assistant coach at Troy University, where she helped guide the Trojans to 67 wins, including victories over nationally ranked Louisiana and Texas State. Under her guidance, Troy’s offense ranked in the top five of the Sun Belt Conference in multiple categories, including runs scored, RBIs, total bases, slugging percentage, and home runs.
As a player at Florida State, Shelnutt was a key contributor to the Seminoles’ 2018 national championship team, hitting .257 with six home runs and 30 RBIs that season. She delivered a standout postseason performance, hitting five home runs and driving in 15 runs en route to earning a spot on the Women’s College World Series All-Tournament Team. She finished her career ranked 10th in program history with 31 home runs and fifth with a .993 fielding percentage. Shelnutt earned her bachelor’s degree in psychology in 2021 and completed a master’s degree in sports management in 2022 from Florida State.
