Associate Head Coach/Recruiting Coordinator
Andy Parro joined the Colorado Mesa University men’s and women’s swimming & diving staff in the fall of 2021 and, by the 2025-26 season, is serving as Associate Head Coach and Recruiting Coordinator.
Colorado Mesa University Athletics In his time with the Mavericks, his recruitment leadership and coaching support have helped the program sweep the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) titles across both men’s and women’s teams in multiple seasons.
Colorado Mesa University AthleticsPrior to CMU, Parro was the head coach at the Illinois Institute of Technology (2018-20), where he guided the program to its first NCAA Division III qualifier and earned conference coach of the year honors.
Before that he served eight seasons as head boys’ and girls’ swim coach at Whitney Young High School in Chicago, leading his teams to seven conference championships and developing multiple high-school All-Americans.
As a collegiate athlete, Parro competed at the University of Illinois Chicago (UIC) from 2007-09 where he was a Horizon League finalist. He holds a bachelor’s degree (organization leadership) and further advanced his coaching education through graduate studies and certifications. At CMU, Parro works directly under Head Coach Mickey Wender, focusing on recruitment strategy, swimmer development, and day-to-day program operations that contribute to the Mavericks’ national-level performance and consistent academic success.
