Andy Kershaw
Head Swimming Coach
Andy Kershaw is a highly respected collegiate swimming coach who has led the University of Miami swimming program since arriving in Coral Gables in 2013. Completing his 12th season at the helm during the 2024–25 campaign, Kershaw has overseen a steady rise of the Hurricanes within the Atlantic Coast Conference and on the national stage. Under his leadership, Miami recorded a top-15 national finish in 2024–25, placing 13th at the NCAA Swimming & Diving Championships for its best showing in more than a decade. His tenure has been marked by consistent NCAA qualification, record-setting performances, and sustained competitive growth, including historic scoring totals at ACC Championships and multiple school records across individual and relay events.
Kershaw brings extensive international and elite-level experience to Miami. He has served as head manager for USA Swimming at two Olympic Games, in 2012 and 2016, along with numerous world championships and international competitions. Prior to Miami, he spent a decade at Southern Methodist University, where he progressed from assistant coach to associate head coach and recruiting coordinator, helping develop dozens of NCAA All-Americans. Earlier in his career, he coached at Ohio University and also served as an assistant coach for the Slovenian national swimming team. A native of Mansfield, Ohio, Kershaw holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Ohio University. Known for his emphasis on academic achievement and personal development alongside athletic excellence, he has guided Miami swimmers to national recognition both in and out of the pool.
