Andrew Valmon is the head coach of the University of Maryland's track and field and cross country program in College Park, Maryland, and entered his 23rd season leading the Terrapins in 2025-26. He arrived at Maryland in 2003 after eight years at Georgetown, where he served first as an assistant, then as associate head coach, and finally as head coach of the men's team. At Georgetown he worked with sprinters, middle-distance runners, and jumpers and was part of teams that won multiple Big East and IC4A indoor and outdoor titles, including the first IC4A outdoor championship in school history.
Since taking over at Maryland, Valmon has overseen a program that has produced 59 All-America honors and nearly 60 school records. After Maryland joined the Big Ten in 2014-15, the Terrapins added 26 All-Americans, including NCAA runners-up Kiani Profit in the pentathlon and heptathlon, Greg Thompson in the discus, and Dominic Berger in the 110-meter hurdles. Thea LaFond was named Big Ten Field Athlete of the Year after Maryland's first outdoor conference championship appearance in 2015.
