Alycia Gervais is an assistant coach for Wagner women’s basketball on Staten Island, New York. She was appointed to the staff in June 2021 after three successful seasons as head coach at Dean College in Franklin, Massachusetts. At Dean, she took over a program transitioning from junior college status to NCAA Division III competition in the New England Collegiate Conference and led the Bulldogs to two straight NECC Tournament appearances while compiling 39 wins. In their first NECC season in 2017-18, Dean tied for the regular-season title with a 12-2 conference record. During her time at Dean, Gervais helped develop several standout players. Makayla Rudder and Iindia Pina both surpassed 1,000 career points and earned First Team All-NECC and USCAA All-America honors in 2018-19, while Alexah Rudder led the NECC in blocked shots. Before Dean, Gervais spent two seasons as head coach at Pine Manor College, where she led the Gators to back-to-back American Collegiate Athletic Association championship games, including a 2017-18 final played on Pine Manor’s home court. Her up-tempo system helped produce scoring success for players such as Erica Jones and Shaquanda Middleton, who each reached the 1,000-point milestone that season as the team averaged more than 70 points per game. Earlier in her coaching career, Gervais was an assistant coach at the University of Virginia’s College at Wise, where she helped lay the groundwork for a team that later went 21-11 and reached the Mountain East Conference semifinals in 2016-17.
She began her collegiate coaching path at Adelphi in 2012 under former Wagner head coach Heather Jacobs. During her time with the Panthers, Adelphi reached its first NCAA Tournament in more than a decade in 2013-14 and earned a place in the USA Today Sports Division II Top 25 poll. Gervais also had an exceptional collegiate playing career at Daniel Webster College. A four-year letterwinner, she was a two-time D3Hoops.com all-region selection, a two-time NECC Player of the Year, and a four-time all-conference honoree. She helped lead the Eagles to their first-ever NECC Tournament championship and NCAA Tournament berth in 2011. Her contributions extended well beyond basketball. She spent four seasons on the cross country team and served as captain for two years, while also competing in softball in 2011 and soccer in 2012. She was a four-year member of the school’s Student-Athlete Advisory Committee and earned Female Student-Athlete of the Year honors twice. In 2020, she was named to both the Noontime Sports All-Decade Team and the New Hampshire Division III Women’s Basketball All-Decade Team. Gervais graduated from Daniel Webster with a degree in sport management and later earned a master’s degree in sport management from Adelphi in 2014.
