During his earlier tenure from 2009–13, he helped Miami compile an 85–24 record, capture its first ACC Championship in 2013, and reach the NCAA Elite Eight in four consecutive seasons. Following that run, Santos served as head coach at the University of Pittsburgh for six years, where he elevated the program competitively and academically before spending the 2019–20 season as associate head coach at Baylor. A native of Oeiras, Portugal, Santos was a highly ranked junior player in his home country and brings international playing and coaching experience to Coral Gables, reinforcing Miami’s commitment to excellence on and off the court.
