Alex Leatu
Director of Tennis
Alexandra Leatu was promoted to Director of Tennis at Queens University of Charlotte in 2025, expanding her role from head women’s tennis coach to overseeing both the men’s and women’s programs. Under her guidance, the men’s program launched its first season in 2024-25, producing an All-ASUN First Team selection, an ASUN All-Freshman Team honoree, and an Academic All-ASUN recipient. On the women’s side, Leatu has led the team to both competitive and academic success, including guiding Lucy Hogan to become the first Queens women’s player named ASUN Player of the Week in the Division I era.
Leatu’s coaching background includes tenures at Weatherford College—where she built a new women’s tennis program that achieved a national ranking—and at Georgia State University, where she helped the Panthers reach the Sun Belt Tournament and contributed to a high GPA culture in the program. She began her collegiate coaching career at the University of New Haven. As a student-athlete, Leatu started her college career at Vanderbilt (earning Second Team All-SEC and SEC All-Tournament honors) before transferring to Baylor, where she won three Big 12 titles and helped the Bears reach top-15 national rankings. She also had a decorated junior background, winning multiple national titles in singles and doubles, and ITF tournaments. Leatu holds a bachelor’s degree in journalism, public relations, and new media from Baylor, and a master’s degree in communication from Georgia State.
