Alex Golesh
Head Coach
Alex Golesh was named the 33rd head football coach in Auburn University history on November 30, 2025, following a highly successful three-year tenure as head coach at the University of South Florida. Widely regarded as one of college football’s top offensive minds, Golesh engineered a dramatic turnaround at USF, leading the Bulls to 23 wins from 2023–25 after the program had won just four games in the previous three seasons. His 2025 team finished 9–3, ranked among the nation’s leaders in total offense and scoring, and helped return USF to the AP Top 25 for the first time since 2018. His up-tempo, high-efficiency offenses averaged more than 35 points and 450 yards per game during his time in Tampa, including a 2023 campaign that featured a 45–0 bowl victory over Syracuse, the largest shutout win in NCAA bowl history.
Prior to USF, Golesh served as offensive coordinator at Tennessee (2021–22), where he directed the nation’s top-ranked offense in 2022, leading the country in scoring, total offense, and yards per play. That unit produced Biletnikoff Award winner Jalin Hyatt and Maxwell Award finalist Hendon Hooker, earning Golesh recognition as a Broyles Award finalist. His résumé also includes key roles at UCF, Iowa State, Illinois, and Toledo, contributing to multiple program turnarounds, conference championships, and bowl appearances. A Moscow, Russia native who was raised in Ohio, Golesh earned his degree from Ohio State and began his coaching career there as a student assistant. He and his wife, Alexis, have two children.
