Agina Simpkins
Head Acrobatics & Tumbling Coach
Agina Simpkins is the Head Acrobatics & Tumbling Coach at Morgan State University, where she leads the Bears’ acrobatics and tumbling program with extensive experience and a passion for athlete development. A native of Chicago, Illinois, Simpkins brings more than 25 years of coaching experience to Morgan State, as well as eight years of officiating at high levels of competition. Before joining the Bears, she built a distinguished athletic and coaching career rooted in elite gymnastics and cheerleading, demonstrating a lifelong commitment to excellence.
As a decorated athlete herself, Simpkins competed at the highest levels of gymnastics, earning seven selections to the United States National Team and representing the nation in international competitions. She also excelled collegiately on a full-ride gymnastics scholarship at the University of Georgia and became an individual national champion in USCA Cheerleading. Transitioning from competition to coaching, she founded and directed her own gymnastics program, Imagine Gymnastics, for nearly two decades, mentoring young athletes and shaping successful performers. Beyond coaching, she is a certified official with the National Collegiate Acrobatics & Tumbling Association (NCATA), lending her expertise to judging at conference and national championships. At Morgan State, Simpkins emphasizes not only competitive excellence but also academic accountability and personal growth, aiming to elevate the Bears’ program both on and off the mat.
