Addy Royal is Stanford's assistant coach for cross country and distance, working with the men's and women's distance programs. During Royal's time with the Cardinal, Stanford distance runners have delivered some of the program's strongest recent national performances in cross country, indoor track, and outdoor track.
Royal has contributed to a stretch that included Juliette Whittaker's NCAA indoor and outdoor 800-meter titles in 2024, Whittaker and Roisin Willis finishing 1-2 at the NCAA outdoor championships, and Stanford sweeping Pac-12 individual cross country titles in 2023. The Cardinal distance group also produced NCAA titles, All-America-level relay performances, West Region team crowns, and historic results from runners such as Ky Robinson and Charles Hicks.
