Adam Hughes is the head volleyball coach at the University of Maryland in College Park, Maryland, a position he assumed on January 23, 2018 after serving as the program's associate head coach. The fifth head coach in Maryland volleyball history, he completed his ninth season leading the Terrapins in 2025 and had 110 career victories at that point.
Under Hughes, Maryland posted three straight seasons of .500 or better from 2021 through 2023, the program's first such run since 2002-05. The 2023 team finished 17-15, defeated three NCAA Tournament qualifiers, and earned another notable conference result by beating No. 16 Minnesota in five sets for Maryland's first victory over the Golden Gophers. Earlier that season, Hughes recorded his 75th win as Maryland's head coach with a four-set victory over Utah Valley on September 2, 2023.
