Abraham Lopez-Mendoza is an assistant coach for Robert Morris men’s soccer in Moon Township, Pennsylvania. He was named to the position on Feb. 8, 2023, and entered his third season with the Colonials in 2025. A native of Caracas, Venezuela, Lopez-Mendoza joined Robert Morris after one season on the staff at Presbyterian and brought experience in recruiting, player development, game planning, and goalkeeper coaching. At Presbyterian in 2022, Lopez-Mendoza helped the Blue Hose post a 10-5-2 record, the program’s first 10-win season in the Division I era. He assisted in regional and national recruiting and helped develop six All-Big South honorees, including goalkeeper Leo Stritter, who earned a place on the Big South All-Freshman Team. Presbyterian also reached the conference tournament for the seventh time in program history and earned its second-highest seed in that event. Before Presbyterian, Lopez-Mendoza spent two seasons at Bethel University in Tennessee as an assistant coach.
There, he played a significant role in skill development, coached the goalkeepers, and worked on game planning. During his time with the Wildcats, Bethel reached the NAIA Top 25, won the Mid-South Conference title in the spring of 2021, and produced 11 all-conference players and two All-Americans. He was also part of a coaching staff that was named Mid-South Conference Coaching Staff of the Year. Lopez-Mendoza began his collegiate coaching career at LSU Shreveport, where he spent two years as an assistant coach. His work there included video analysis, practice planning, and recruiting. During his tenure, LSU Shreveport won a Red River Conference regular-season title, reached the national tournament for the first time in program history, and finished in the NAIA Top 25 in both seasons. Lopez-Mendoza graduated from UCF in 2016 with a degree in psychology and later earned a master’s degree in health administration from LSU Shreveport in 2020. He holds a U.S. Soccer Federation C license, a Venezuela Football Federation C license, and a United Soccer Coaches goalkeeper license.
