Abby Gilleland
Assistant Coach
Abby Gilleland joins the Florida Gators volleyball staff for the first time in fall 2025. She comes from the Marquette University program, where she spent three seasons (2022-24) as an assistant coach. At Marquette, she helped the Golden Eagles reach three NCAA Tournaments, made two NCAA Regional Semifinals (including in 2024), and won two Big East regular season championships. She worked with several standout players (e.g. Yadhira Anchante, Hattie Bray, Aubrey Hamilton) and helped lead both athletic and academic success in her roles.
Before that, Gilleland coached at UConn (2019-2021), UTC (University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, 2017-18), and William & Mary, where she gained experience in setter training, recruiting coordination, match strategy, and team operations. Her roots as a player run deep: she earned her bachelor’s degree in Sports Sciences from Ohio University in 2016, where she was a captain and setter on the volleyball team with notable statistical achievements and honors (e.g. high assist totals, All-Mid-American Conference selections, Academic awards).
