Abbie Hughes joined the University of Washington Beach Volleyball program as an Assistant Coach in 2025, bringing extensive experience as both a collegiate athlete and a coach. Prior to joining the Huskies, Hughes served on the coaching staff at Arizona State University from 2023 to 2025, where she quickly advanced from volunteer assistant to full assistant coach. During her tenure, she helped lead the Sun Devils to back-to-back nationally ranked seasons, including a program-record 22-win campaign in 2025 and an NCAA Tournament appearance in 2024. Hughes played a key role in mentoring athletes to achieve AVCA All-America honors and Big 12 All-Conference recognition, demonstrating her commitment to player development and competitive excellence.
Hughes’ playing career was equally distinguished. She competed at Grand Canyon University, earning AVCA Second Team All-America and Top Flight honors, and achieving significant victories over top-20 opponents, including in NCAA Tournament play. She also competed at Florida International University, excelling as a dual-sport athlete in both beach and indoor volleyball and earning multiple Conference USA accolades. Hughes’ combined experience as a top-level player and coach provides her with a strong foundation to support the Huskies as they prepare for the 2026 season, emphasizing skill development, competitive strategy, and team growth.
