Laila Johnson

Marquette Women’s Lacrosse Player

My name is Laila Johnson, I am a sports communications major and a Division 1 Lacrosse player at Marquette University. I have been playing this sport since a very young age so I’ve had lots of ups and downs one being tearing my ACL. I have become a huge advocate for mental health issues and I want people to know that its okay to ask for help and know that they are not alone.

I tore my ACL my senior year of highschool and went through so many phases of wanting to give up because of how hard the process was. I had so many hard days that I struggled to get out of. Since that happened I have gained extreme empathy for others and hard things they may go through. I have two younger brothers who also play lacrosse and I find it my responsibility to take care of them and protect them at all costs. I am also a firm believer in Jesus and I make sure to thank him every step of the way.
